The 3,319-acre park preserves the unparalleled scenic beauty of breathtaking sandstone outcroppings known as the Fountain and Lyons Formations. These elegant spires, sentinels and hogbacks rising abruptly on the Front Range are silent remnants of Roxborough's 1 .3 billion year march through geologic time. Prehistoric man, Native Americans, trappers, ranchers and miners left their own historic marks here, too. Roxborough is a unique patchwork of delicate ecosystems providing a habitat for bears, cougars, fox, coyotes, eagles, hawks, rattlers and more.
